KRAMER was engaged by GBA Associates (building owner) to manage their $100 million renovation of a three building campus totaling 644,000 SF in Falls Church, VA, which became leased by the Defense Health Headquarters (DHHQ) The buildings were upgraded with blast-resistant materials to meet requirements of Department of Defense standards. New glazing, precast, and metal panels were combined to modernize the exterior, helping to bring the existing building components together into a more cohesive design. Each building was planned to host a separate service branch with unique color schemes and artwork used to enhance way-finding throughout. The lobbies unite the tenants through subtle color selections and tasteful artifact integration. In addition to the lobbies uniting the services, a renovated cafeteria and auditorium topped off the project and served as a common gathering space for all service branches.
