Barrie School retained KRAMER to manage the construction of their 26,000 SF $1.9 million high performance learning environments. The fast track project pushed the limits of modular construction design and the use of reclaimed and recycled materials; 20% of the building materials contained recycled post-consumer products, 2.5% of the project cost utilized rapidly renewable materials, and 35% of the project cost used Green Type FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Lumber. Additionally the buildings’ operation includes thermal controls, operable windows, and lighting controls that operate through a user-centered management system. Cisterns were installed for rainwater to support moderate irrigation while supplementing non-potable water use.
